Tuborg is reinforcing its claims to be “the official beer of live music” with a tie-in with fashion label Gio-Goi. An on-pack promotion if offering 3,000 bespoke record bags and the chance to win a trip to Ibiza for up to four people.   Special promotional packs contain Gio-Goi tokens; fans who collect eight tokens can send them in and claim a limited edition Gio-Goi bag. Everyone who claims a bag is automatically entered into the Ibiza prize draw.   Paul Davies, director of brands and insight at Carlsberg UK, says the partnership between the two brands works because “both brands share a...

Branding That’s a Pain in the Neck

Branding That’s a Pain in the Neck
Since Cheryl Cole is starting divorce proceedings, she’s decided that getting rid of her ‘Mrs C’ tattoo on her neck isn’t a bad idea either.   She has asked her management to clear a few more days to have the inking on the back of her back removed. If I were her, I’d get that tattoo of her hand and thigh removed too, but what do I know?   Cheryl wants it to be done in secret – unlike when Jordan had her “Pete” wrist tattoo inked over with a big black cross, which was all caught on camera for her reality TV series. If you just do the exact opposite of whatever Jordan does you...

Personalised Awards & Trophies

Personalised Awards & Trophies
Did you see the Golden Globe Awards the other night? It was the 67th year, but the first that the star-studded ceremony had seen a host for 15 years.   An unlikely choice of host was Briton’s own Ricky Gervais, who had the nerve racking honour of keeping banter levels high. His targets included Sir Paul McCartney, Angelina Jolie, Steve Carrell, TV network NBC and the Hollywood smart set in general.   My favourite line of the night was: “Looking at all the faces here makes me remember all the great work that’s been done this year by cosmetic surgeons,” he joked.   He went down a...

Umbrellas in Leicester Square

Umbrellas in Leicester Square
You would be forgiven for associating London’s Leicester Square with all the glamour of the film industry. However yesterday saw the prestigious spot filled with computer game fans for the premier of much anticipated and catchy titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.   The hardcore (some might say sad), gamers were treated to a fanfare of martial music and Jeeps. While US Marine look-a-likes took the invited audience down a camouflage carpet into the Vue cinema, while the crowds leaned over the barriers.   For those who don’t know, Modern Warfare 2 is set five years after the conclusion of Call...

Big Brother Is Watching.

Big Brother Is Watching.
When it comes to the art of self promotion – nothing can surely topple Big Brother housemates.   The tenth series of Channel 4’s Big Brother starts tonight, which seems to drag on longer and longer every year. The controversial programme sees yet another twist on previous years, with the contestants sleeping on the floor and having icy showers. The would be contestants (eight men and eight women), won’t be fully fledged housemates until they individually complete a set of tasks.   Lucozade Energy will become the first major grocery sponsor of the Channel 4 programme, as part of it’s £12...

Comic Relief Reach Number One

Comic Relief Reach Number One
The Comic Relief single ‘Islands in the Stream’, performed by the Gavin and Stacey comedy duo Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones, has reached pole position in the UK singles chart. The popularity of the single adds to the £5.5m raised by Comic Relief singles from the past two decades.      Comic relief is the king of promotional products, with their distinctive promotional merchandise being spotted on car bonnets and noses everywhere. As much as admire the promotional output of the charity, we would recommend that promotional noses would work as well for everyone.      It seems being ‘funny for...

Button Dressed As Man

Last night I saw the multi Bafta winning ‘Curious Case of Benjamin Button’.  This eye opening film is based on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald and is about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backward. Despite the Sunday Times only giving this an underwhelming two stars, it has been nominated for a whopping 13 Oscars.   The leading lady (Kate Blanchett), finally realises her true feelings for Benjamin after years of messing about. What women wouldn’t feel anxious about ageing, while the handsome Brad Pitt becomes more youthful every day? What Kate would have appreciated...

BAFTA News

BAFTA News
For those of you who missed the BAFTA’s last night, the new king of The British Academy of Film & Television Arts is Slum Dog Millionaire. The rags-to-riches story, hogged the stage last night at the Royal Opera House, winning seven out of eleven nominated awards.   Interestingly last year, BAFTA was the only precursor to correctly predict all of the acting winners at the Oscars, so it looks like this could be a vintage year for British cinema.   If all the glitz from Covent Garden last night, has got you in the mood for some glamour for your own business, then one could invest in some...
