The Golden Globes, held this January, were a roaring success; from the gossip about the designer gowns, to the after party celebrations and everything in between. It would seem odd for a year to pass by without our favourite actors and actresses receiving recognition for their on screen performances; the Oscars and the Golden Globes are some of the most watched events in the world. However, when it comes to celebrating work achievements in the ‘real world’ of business, we are less inclined to give credit to those who have earned it, with an awards ceremony.
Many business owners are now realising...

As we are approaching January’s halfway point, the nostalgia from New Year celebrations is calming down. It is now time to look forward and do so by looking forward to one of the most anticipate events of the last few years. The Olympics.
I, for one, am indifferent to this fortnight of sport. I honestly cannot make my mind up whether it is worth the billions of pounds of investment or if it will flop and embarrass the UK on the international stage. Whichever side you are on, the simple fact is that the Olympic games are going to happen and we are stuck with it.
So what are we to expect? Well, a skip...

The Royal Mint has won the contract to produce athletes’ medals for the London 2012 Olympics. The clutch of gold, silver and bronze medals will be produced at the Mint’s headquarters in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Around 4,700 medals are planned, although the final design will not be announced until next summer. Royal Mint’s chief operating officer Adam Lawrence described it as “great news” for Wales. berHe said the contract was a welcome development for the company’s 800 employees and its suppliers.

Promotional rosettes, awards, trophies – if you want to congratulate someone, then Gift Selection can supply the perfect promotional product.
If you’re planning a corporate golf day, then having a few crystal awards are a great way to round of the event. Don’t limit yourself to giving one award for the lowest round, be creative and congratulate those for the longest put or even for hitting the most bunkers!
Awards don’t have to be expensive, having engraved tumblers or whiskey glasses don’t cost the earth, but can still make the recipient really feel valued. As usual, Gift Selection...

Tonight is the night the Brit Awards rolls into London’s Earls Court with; Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Florence and the Machine, Pixie Lott and JLS all in the running for a possible hat-trick of awards.

The somewhat unlikely host, Peter Kay, is the latest host of the famous awards which began back in 1977. Two special categories have been created...

The Brit awards has had a solid track record in providing eyebrow raising television. Whether it be Geri Halliwell’s revealing dress back in 1996 or Kazakhstan’s most famous export calling the Pussy Cat Dolls prostitutes, the Brits has had its fair share of iconic moments.
My personal favourite was when a young Jarvis Cocker paraded his pale cheeks, when he invaded the stage when Michael Jackson was performing Earth Song. Good Times.
With all this glitz and glamour on the box, it may inspire you to have some promotional awards and trophies made up for your own business. There is a great...

For those of you who missed the BAFTA’s last night, the new king of The British Academy of Film & Television Arts is Slum Dog Millionaire. The rags-to-riches story, hogged the stage last night at the Royal Opera House, winning seven out of eleven nominated awards.
Interestingly last year, BAFTA was the only precursor to correctly predict all of the acting winners at the Oscars, so it looks like this could be a vintage year for British cinema.
If all the glitz from Covent Garden last night, has got you in the mood for some glamour for your own business, then one could invest in some...
