Get Out Your Plastic

The holidays are coming, the holidays are coming and Coca Cola have unveiled there new marketing strategy, which I have to say is questionable to say the least. Coca-Cola has hired Peter Andre as a celebrity busker as part of its sponsorship of London Underground busking spots. No I haven’t just made that up.

Andre commented: “I love Christmas and everything associated with it so I jumped at the chance to help bring a little extra festive cheer to shoppers. To be honest this news has actually put me off walking down Oxford Street on the off chance I bump into him.

On a serious note the event will help to raise funds and awareness for 95.8 Capital FM’s, Help a London Child, which helps London’s disadvantaged young people.

Ofcom has received a significant number of complaints, over the perceived poor handling of our new national treasure Susan Boyle.

The unlikely singing sensation who has learning difficulties, was taken to private London clinic ‘The Priory’ on Sunday, following fears for her mental health after Saturday nights final.

Apparently the head strong Scott ran down the corridor backstage shouting, “I hate this show” after missing out to dance group Diversity, She is also said to have thrown a glass of water over a floor manager. Considering the amount of pressure she was under, surely one is aloud to have a little strop – without being sent into care?

‘Britain’s Got Talent’ producer Talkback Thames admitted that “contestants are not psychologically tested and has now said it will review this policy2, according to the Daily Mail.

While John Whittingdale MP, chairman of the Commons culture, media and sport committee, told The Telegraph; “that the programme-makers had questions to answer about their duty of care to such a vulnerable contestant.”

At it’s highest point the final of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ was watched by a whopping 19.2m viewers - the biggest ratings in five years.

The Iconic Red Nose

The Comic Relief single ‘Islands in the Stream’, performed by the Gavin and Stacey comedy duo Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones, has reached pole position in the UK singles chart. The popularity of the single adds to the £5.5m raised by Comic Relief singles from the past two decades.

Comic relief is the king of promotional products, with their distinctive promotional merchandise being spotted on car bonnets and noses everywhere. As much as admire the promotional output of the charity, we would recommend that promotional noses would work as well for everyone.

It seems being ‘funny for money’ is as popular as ever, as they have raised an impressive £59,187,065 this year, with still a little more cash to head their way. We like to have as much fun as the next man here at the promotional products blog. Sometimes when where feeling really excited, we may even wear the odd novelty tie.

For any unorganised festival lover, I bring you the sad news that this summer’s Glastonbury festival has sold out. The Somerset based festivel has sold out  a whopping four and half months ahead of time, despite having no headliners at all confirmed.

The festival organisers launched an early ticket deposit scheme back in October, with the majority of fans set to complete their payments by a deadline of the 1st of February. There is still hope if you’re still looking for a ticket -as any cancelled or returned tickets will be re-sold on the 5th of April.

This early sell-out is in stark contrast to last year’s festival, when 3,000 tickets were unsold just one day before the gates opened to the public. The confirmed line up will not to be released until June, but it is rumoured to include Bruce Springsteen and recently re-formed Britpop band Blur.

If your business is looking to target music fans with your next promotional marketing campaign, then there are many options available. One business that has many promotional gadgets that would be ideal is gadgets2order. They have a great range of promotional headphones, MP3 speakers and pouches for example that would be ideal.
