Tonight is the night the Brit Awards rolls into London’s Earls Court with; Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Florence and the Machine, Pixie Lott and JLS all in the running for a possible hat-trick of awards.

As the UK’s biggest music award night, viewers will be treated to performances from Lady Gaga, Kasabian, Cheryl Cole, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, while Prince Harry has recorded a message for the live show, as the ceremony celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The somewhat unlikely host, Peter Kay, is the latest host of the famous awards which began back in 1977. Two special categories have been created to celebrate the best of the Brits over the past 30 years - the best Brits performance and the best album since the ceremony began.

If your organisation fancies an award ceremony of its own, you don’t necessarily have to dress up as Peter Kay, but you do need some quality personalised awards. One quality engraved award supplier is Gift Selection, who have supplied top end engraved awards to all sorts of organisations.

A quality award will make your order staff really feel appreciated, where as one that looks knocked together my result in a mass walk out. Gift Selection can engrave all sorts of popular award styles, such as globes, shards, prisms and stars – but unfortunately no Brit Awards.

Bling Bling

Did you see the Golden Globe Awards the other night? It was the 67th year, but the first that the star-studded ceremony had seen a host for 15 years.

An unlikely choice of host was Briton’s own Ricky Gervais, who had the nerve racking honour of keeping banter levels high. His targets included Sir Paul McCartney, Angelina Jolie, Steve Carrell, TV network NBC and the Hollywood smart set in general.

My favourite line of the night was: “Looking at all the faces here makes me remember all the great work that’s been done this year by cosmetic surgeons,” he joked.

He went down a lot easier then fellow Brit, Russell Brand, who the American public did not warm to, after his attempt at hosting the MTV Music Awards. The Associated Press called Gervais “cheeky, silly and funny as heck” for his gentle jabs at the Hollywood A List.

If your organisation is handing out awards of its own, then going to a quality supplier like Gift Selection will ensure you can find exactly what you’re looking for. Personalised awards can look really impressive, if done in the right way, while a great choice of styles and materials are available.

If for example your business had links with the travel and tourism industry, handing out crystal globe awards would send out a real smart corporate image. Maybe you don’t have the same budget as the Golden Globes, but Gift Selection can still accommodate those on a lesser budget too.

Rather than a large crystal award, a smartly engraved crystal tumbler or even a paperweight would do the job nicely also. Remember, if you have any questions at all about engraved crystal, contact the friendly team over at Gift Selection.

Love in the Air?

We get lots of enquiries from loved up couples wanting personalised sweets for there upcoming wedding. However as I’m bitter and single I refuse out of spite. On a serious note we can very rarely progress, because of the general high minimum quantities required for promotional confectionery.

Very often we can get asked for promotional rock sweets for example, the problem being that people generally want a couple of hundred and the minimum order being a couple of thousand.

However we are now able to supply promotional sweet jars from low minimum quantities, which would make an ideal finishing touch to a wedding. There’s nothing new about personalised jars, however now they are able to be filled with practically any confectionery item.

Now there is a fantastic choice of sweets on offer, of course there are traditional sugar almonds or love hearts, but now you are only limited by your imagination. Not only can you pick which sweets you want in your personalised jars, you can also pick the colours.

Now you can have the jelly beans matching the bridesmaid’ dresses! If you want to know more about promotional confectionery for your wedding (or civil partnership, bar mitzvah, funeral etc) then contact the friendly confectionery experts at sweet2order.

The St George Made In England Mug

The fact that tomorrow is the 23rd of April means that it’s St. George’s Day – England’s national day!

His emblem of a red cross on a white background was adopted by Richard the Lion Heart,  with the king’s soldiers wearing it on their tunics to avoid confusion in battle! It’s only right then, that we will be drinking out of our St George promotional mugs tomorrow.

Our brews will taste even more refreshing, knowing that our promotional mugs where produced in dear old Blighty. The St George mug is made in the heart of England, and will feature a razor sharp screen print of your artwork. The bottom of the St George printed mug features ‘Made In England’, crafted into the base.

Despite the fact that St. George is our patron St, only one in five people know that St. George’s Day is on 23rd April. Even worse is that a quarter of people living in England do not even know who their patron saint is!

If you’d like to order a sample, quote or visual of the promotional St George mug, then let the friendly team at the Mugstore know.

For any unorganised festival lover, I bring you the sad news that this summer’s Glastonbury festival has sold out. The Somerset based festivel has sold out  a whopping four and half months ahead of time, despite having no headliners at all confirmed.

The festival organisers launched an early ticket deposit scheme back in October, with the majority of fans set to complete their payments by a deadline of the 1st of February. There is still hope if you’re still looking for a ticket -as any cancelled or returned tickets will be re-sold on the 5th of April.

This early sell-out is in stark contrast to last year’s festival, when 3,000 tickets were unsold just one day before the gates opened to the public. The confirmed line up will not to be released until June, but it is rumoured to include Bruce Springsteen and recently re-formed Britpop band Blur.

If your business is looking to target music fans with your next promotional marketing campaign, then there are many options available. One business that has many promotional gadgets that would be ideal is gadgets2order. They have a great range of promotional headphones, MP3 speakers and pouches for example that would be ideal.

In Mexico an 11 year old boy has killed six bulls in a single fight! Little blood thirsty Franco as been bullfighting since he was just four years old. In the past many of his fights have been banned after protests by animal rights groups, but this time he wasn’t taking no for an answer and the fight went ahead.

Some 3,500 gore lovers including many children, reportedly gathered to witness the fight at the ring in the eastern city of Merida in Yucatan State. The little matador is already an international star in the world of bullfighting, as he first entered the ring when he was just four and killing his first bull calf two years later – what a moooving achievement for the lad.

Incidentally if you were wondering if this was a world record – it isn’t.  Due to the fact that Guinness, does not accept records that are based upon the harming of animals.

If your looking to drum up some excitement for a large outdoor event, be it a bull fight or your kids Sunday league team then their are a great range of promotional products available. One could invest in promotional blimps, balloons or adflags to cheer your team on with.

Bottoms Up

For any self respecting Scott, Saturday night was one of the biggest nights of the year (like they need an excuse to party). Burns night is something of an institution over the border, with everyone getting merry and taking the opportunity to celebrate the life and work of their national Bard.  Having (more than) a few drams of Scottish malt whisky and wolfing down haggis, neeps and tatties certainly sounds like a good night in to me.

Personally I can take or leave the piping precessions that lead up to the real business of all the eating and drinking. A burns night wouldn’t be a Burns night without the famous reading of his words before any eating can begin; “Some hae meat and canna eat,and some wad eat that want it, but we hae meat and we can eat, and sae the Lord be thankit”

For those hosting the event, the night offers some real opportunities for promotional products. A stylish touch I think would be having your own whiskey tumblers or shot glasses made with your business logo on. Cheeers!
