Tonight is the night the Brit Awards rolls into London’s Earls Court with; Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Florence and the Machine, Pixie Lott and JLS all in the running for a possible hat-trick of awards.

As the UK’s biggest music award night, viewers will be treated to performances from Lady Gaga, Kasabian, Cheryl Cole, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, while Prince Harry has recorded a message for the live show, as the ceremony celebrates its 30th anniversary.

The somewhat unlikely host, Peter Kay, is the latest host of the famous awards which began back in 1977. Two special categories have been created to celebrate the best of the Brits over the past 30 years - the best Brits performance and the best album since the ceremony began.

If your organisation fancies an award ceremony of its own, you don’t necessarily have to dress up as Peter Kay, but you do need some quality personalised awards. One quality engraved award supplier is Gift Selection, who have supplied top end engraved awards to all sorts of organisations.

A quality award will make your order staff really feel appreciated, where as one that looks knocked together my result in a mass walk out. Gift Selection can engrave all sorts of popular award styles, such as globes, shards, prisms and stars – but unfortunately no Brit Awards.

Och!

An entrepreneurial chef and hotel owner is planning to produce Scotland’s first commercially-available wine.  Pete Gottgens, originally from South Africa, has planted vines in the grounds of the Ardeonaig hotel in Perthshire.

Mr Gottgens said: “I don’t for one minute think we are going to rival any of the great wine-producing areas of the world.” He explained that he wanted to sell the wine in his restaurant and also allow guests to see the production process. There are 48 vines in total from four different varieties, in the grounds of the hotel located on the banks of Loch Tay.

To celebrate his new venture and promote his business, Mr Gottgens might appreciate some wine themed promotional products. Branded bottle openers are available in all shapes and sizes, and make for a neat promotional product that people are likely to keep for a long time. If bought in quantity, you can pick up a promotional bottle opener to put on a set of keys for as little as 50p.

Alternatively high quality wine accessory sets, make for eye catching corporate gifts, that are bound to make the recipient feel appreciated. Having engraved wine gifts such as bottle stoppers, wine collars and cork screws will make a smart addition to any dining table.

Yesterday it was banning smoking in Finland; today there are calls for tighter labelling of alcohol here in the UK. The Tories are proposing to swap the system of using units to tell consumers how much alcohol their drink contains, for one focused on the metric volume of alcohol and the calorie content.

What I want to know is, how come dingy pubs are full of thin and weary looking men, if they’re drinking calorie packed pints every minute they are open. Anyway, the Conservatives plan to negotiate a voluntary agreement with the drinks industry should it come to power this year, as part of its health manifesto laid out by shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley.

Their policy has arisen from Health Select Committee’s report on alcohol abuse last week. Several of the report’s recommendations could affect the drinks industry, including restrictions on advertising and sponsorship as well as a minimum price per unit.

If you’re looking for promotional products that may require special information by law, rest assured a quality corporate gift supplier like Gift Selection will have everything you need to know.

 Cheeers

Larger louts, not normally known for their eco friendly stance may be becoming more green then they first realised.

Over the Christmas period the upmarket beer Stella Artois hopes to save one million rainforest trees through a digital ‘Send a Card, Save a Tree’ campaign, which invites their fans everywhere to send a free, augmented reality cards. For every digital card sent, Stella Artois will saved a tree in the threatened Atlantic Rainforest in Argentina’s Misiones Province.

If you live in London you may have seen a sustainably-sourced Christmas tree in the ‘Winter Wonderland’ in London’s Hyde park, which details the progress of their campaign.  You may have taken your decorations down last weekend, but it isn’t too late to check out their site. The Agency Bright Spark Digital created the eCards, so keep an eye out for more innovative work from them.

Did you know that the first recorded history of Stella Artois is in 1366, when records of taxes exist on Leuven’s Den Horen Brewery, a brewery that is still in existence today? Anyway, if your business is looking for some innovative eco friendly promotional gifts, then keep an eye on ecoproducts2order who have a great range of printed promotional merchandise that Mother Nature would approve of.

Branded Biconic Glass

One of the most popular promotional products are branded ceramics, something that the people at The Mugstore are experts on. However they have recently added a new range of printed glassware on their site, with the bar and café market specifically in mind.

Having branded glassware will add that something extra to the presentation of customers drinks, and to the feel of the business as a whole. The Mugstore can offer any branded glass you could think off, but this affordable range has been specifically added due to their great value for money.

My personal favourites are the cooler range, not because there the most flash – but they are the most professional. Having your own branded small cooler glasses, is sure to impress and will make that whiskey on rocks taste even sweeter, or go for the tall version if you’re more inclined to a Long Island Ice Tea.

The heavier V series glasses are certainly striking, and certainly make an interesting product range for the promotions industry. Funnily enough these personalised glasses, also double up for eating deserts out of! The V Series glass in particular is absolutely perfect for nibbling a Tiramisu out of! The standard cooler range is great for bars and restaurants, while the top end branded Biconic range of branded glassware could even be used a gift set for any number of organisations looking to reward their customers, clients or staff.

It goes without saying that their quality promotional glassware is decorated to the highest standards to make your logo and message really stand out for all the right reasons.

South African brand Savanna Cider is launching its biggest ever UK on-trade promotion, focused around the world of Facebook. The online competition invites drinkers to “Win your own Savanna party” for you and 99 of your closest friends. The quirky alcoholic drink, is marketed along the lines of; “its dry but you can drink it”.

Liverpool’s new stadium could be named the ‘Carlsberg Anfield’ as the scousers American owners need to get back into the red. Carlsberg have been sponsoring Liverpool for a record 18 years, but seem ready to take things to the next level, by having their whole name emblazoned across the stadium!

Liverpool FC will be following in the foot steps of Arsenal, who sold the naming rights to their stadium to Emirates for a whopping £100m, over a thirteen year period. There may be significant fan backlash on the cards, but for the that kind of money, it may be difficult to refuse.

Gareth Roberts, UK director of sponsorship at Carlsberg, told The Independent that a re-naming deal would be “part of the discussion” but that there had been no certain decisions. Realistically for the new stadium to be built, it was always going to be a case of naming rights being sold to the highest bidder in order to secure some funding for it.

If you ask me I don’t think Carlsberg Anfield is that bad a name anyway. What do you think about the potential re-brand?

New Promotional Glass From San Miguel The latest mover and shaker in the world of promotions is Carlsberg, who are about to embark on a whopping £7m marketing campaign for San Miguael. This will be the first campaign since Carlsberg took over all marketing responsibilities from the brand last year.

It all kicks off on the 9th of May with TV ads, which will run alongside outdoor, print and cinema activity. There will also be some “experimental” activity going on at train stations…

The lager is promoting itself along the line of “Not a quick beer”, with the aim of marketing itself alongside world or luxury beers. With the typically Spanish idea of making sure you balance work and other time, always being kept in mind. Rather then a fuel that’s thrown down the neck of football hooligans, before marching onto the terraces.

New packaging will also play a part, with a new can and bottle label design. A new promotional glass will also be produced, to further the premium feel of the brand. The new look is based on the brand’s appearance in continental Europe, where shall we say there is a more gentlemanly attitude towards drinking.

Promotional Bottle Chillers

With the bank holiday producing some of the best weather we’ve seen for a long time, the coming summer looks promising.  Lets face it, anything would be better then last year’s so called summer.

My latest favourite promotional item for the summertime is this personalised bottle chiller. These promotional bottle chillers will cool your favourite drink with their insulated gel filled coating. These promotional bottle coolers are practical too, as they can be neatly stored flat in the freezer.

It doesn’t matter what your favourite summer drink is, as these promotional bottle chillers are available in different sizes. Printed bottle chillers are a quirky and unusual promotional items, and work well as they can be printed in full colour and have a great branding potential.

These promotional bottle chillers are like little life jackets for your bottles of beer! Having a chilled drink gently bobbing in the water, conjures up images of the perfect holiday. The great thing about summer based promotional items like these bottle chillers, is that your brand will always be associated with good times and celebrations.

If your business is looking for a fun, summer based promotional product then printed bottle chillers are well worth considering. If you require a; quote, sample or visual then the friendly promotional team at Giftselection can organise it for you. The only thing they can’t guarantee is the sunshine!
