Despite having such excellent corporate work-wear, being a security guard can be a tricky business, as Wendy Thompson knows, after she was assaulted with a cheese sandwich.

Lee Revis was being held for breaching bail over another offence, and wasn’t too happy when he was told he could not smoke in a court cell. Group 4 prison custody officer Wendy Thompson went to check on him at the court in Berwick-upon-Tweed, and he threw the sandwich in her face.

Lee Revis, from Wooler, Northumberland, admitted assaulting the guard and was charged with a fourteen day sentence. No doubt he was a little cheesed off.

Did you see the British number 1; miss out on his first Grand Slam title yesterday? Despite being Fedorized, Andy Murray said his desire to win a Grand Slam title remained intact, despite a solid defeat at the Australian Open.

The Briton lost 6-3 6-4 7-6 (13-11) to Roger Federer in Sunday’s final. “I’m hungry to win one,” said the 22-year-old Scot. “I haven’t since I was 16, 17 years old when I started playing the junior Grand Slams.”I worked really, really hard to try to do it and give myself the opportunity. So far it’s not been good enough but I’m sure one day it will be.”

Andy Murray’s defeat means that the 74-year-wait for a British male Grand Slam singles champion continues, a British man hasn’t won a major tournament since Fred Perry lifted the US Open trophy back in 1936.

The days of simple promotional cotton shirts and shorts are coming to an end. Luckily Gift Selection has a range of high end promotional active wear for everyone. Holly Tuten, retail manager for a major Hotel & Spa in Houston Texas said, women migrate to apparel that fits snugly and provides ample support, while men are interested in a garment’s performance capabilities. “A popular fabric for women right now is Supplex. It’s a nylon fabric that’s denser than lyrca or spandex, and has a soft cotton-like feel with great support. Men love wash-and-wear product – the way they drape and feel light whether wet or dray.”

Gift Selection has a range of promotional garments made from various materials. They offer the traditional range of branded items made from; polyester, spandex and cotton blends. As well as more modern eco friendly materials such as; hemp, bamboo, organic cotton, recycled plastic and jute.

Gift Selection in conjunction with their sister site ecoproducts2order supply the best range of promotional bamboo clothing on the market. Bamboo isn’t just for Panda’s you know. This naturally sustainable, renewable plant is woven into a fabric to create a hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, odor-resistant, breathable and quick-drying garment.  Bamboo realises more oxygen into the atmosphere than trees, helping to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. Another reason why promotional bamboo clothing is great, is that bamboo grows quickly without the use of pesticides and insecticides.

Leading market research analyst Mintel has shown that sales of ethical clothing have more than quadrupled in the last five years, reaching a healthy £175m in early 2009. If your business has cottoned on to the trend of organic and ethical clothing, then ecoproducts2order has a range of quality items.

The market for ethical clothing is going from strength to strength, as consumers continue to seek out clothing that takes into consideration the impact of production and trade on the environment and on the people behind the clothes we wear.

My particular favourite is the promotional organic baby clothing! You may be surprised to learn that regular cotton accounts for only 3% of the world’s farmland but uses a massive 25% of the world’s pesticides. Also organic cotton is gentle to the environment as it takes less fuel and fewer green house gases to produce it.

Promotional organic clothing is a great way to market your brand, in an ethical and effective way. Whether your looking for promotional organic caps, hats, T shirts - what ever it is ecoproducts2order can source it.

It seems the snow keeps on falling, to the frustration of millions of motorists around the United Kingdom. The latest victims were around 200 people that had to be rescued by emergency crews in Devon, after spending hours trapped in their snowed in vehicles.

The hostages were stuck at the A38 at Haldon Hill, near Exeter, at about 9:00PM after the weather suddenly took a turn for the worst. With the Met Office predicted that parts of the UK will receive eight inches (20cm) of snow forecast in places, now is the perfect time to roll out your winter promotional products.

Promotional clothing such as embroidered hats, fleeces and scarves would go down a storm at the moment. There is also a lot of potential for marketing your business with really low cost promotional products too. Remeber if you’re comparing prices when looking for promotional clothing, the cost is based on the stitch count. Be sure you’re getting a like for like quote, as stitch counts will vary considerably from one logo to the next.

Or looking outside, one could try something a little more unusual like a personalised ice scraper, as your next corporate gift!
